Mercer Professors Weigh In On New Urbanism’s Challenge for Churches with Texas Magazine

The Baptist Standard, the Texas Baptist news journal, quoted two Mercer professors in a story on the challenges New Urbanism presents to churches. Mercer’s Dr. Peter Brown, associate provost and professor of philosophy, and Dr. Ronald W. Johnson, professor of preaching and evangelism at the McAfee School of Theology, contributed their expertise to the story.

National Astronomy Site Highlights Photo from Mercer Astronomy Course

Spaceweather.com, an astronomy news site, featured a photo from Mercer physics professor Dr. Matt Marone’s class, introductory astronomy, taken at Lake Tobesofkee on Feb. 5. The group was observing the International Space Station, which was visible in the night sky that evening.

Politico, one the nation’s leading political news Web sites, turned to Mercer’s Dr. David Gushee, Distinguished University Professor of Christian Ethics, for his analysis of President Barack Obama’s new faith-based initiative. The story appeared on Politico.com on Feb. 5 and on a number of news Web sites through Politico’s news service.
